My name is Eugenia Foster. I live in Mobile, Alabama and have been painting since I was a child. My amazing mother always made sure that we had great art supplies, and to this day she paints beautifully.
My work is very free with strong, deliberate mark-making… somewhat like my life. I totally appreciate that I have a wonderful life and a job that I love. My work has become even more dramatic in the past 16 months, as I have been going through a very successful but challenging chemo treatment. My work is generated from life’s experiences – the excitement of travel, the beautiful colors and forms in nature, or the beauty of the human form.
My greatest joy and inspiration are my four wonderful adult children and six grandchildren. We travel together and I find more good material.

Eugenia Foster works in her local studio. Frequent exotic travels provide new images for her semi-abstract work. This resource is generally used from memory, and thus the paintings have a suggestion of a region or culture without the limits of a narrative rendition. Her work is becoming a little more abstract, but still carries the bold mark-making and strong palette that makes the work recognizable as her own.
